As one of Nashville's best kept secrets Kd Tha 1 has risen from a little known rapper to a internet sensation rap artist far removed from the music industry standard hip-hop and rap that has become the norm in rap music today. Starting off in 1996 with his friends Tredogg and BMW the trio started a rap group and made an underground mixtape that was if anything a hood sensation around east nashville. The group didn't have a name but had a new found respect as young rap artist. The group dissolved after legal troubles landed 2 (Treface & BMW) of the 3 members in jail. So without his friends and no place to record music Kd dropped from the underground scene and focused on getting off the streets, attaining a GED, and getting into college. While still attending Tennessee State University his younger brother and 2 of his friends splintered off from a bigger rap coalition and formed there own group and added Kd to this new faction of rap artist. Family 1st (QClassic, Fatboy, Newborn & Kd Tha 1) was born and in 2 years spawned 2 albums on the streets of Ca$hville, " Scriptures Of The Streets" in 2004 and Coming Hard" in 2005. While doing this each member also completed solo albums with Kd dropping ,"Stand On My Own", Ca$hville's Finest", and "Southern Wayz" and changing his name from KD to Kd Tha 1 with the latter album. He then would drop "For Tha Last Time" which featured his underground single "For Tha Last Time" ft. Newborn. After this album the group dissolved and Kd Tha 1 was once again a solo artistfrom a disbanded group. But this time things worked out for the better as Kd Tha 1 put out his most acclaimed album "This Is My Life". His 5th album not only brought him up to the forefront of the Ca$hville rap scene but brought with it a new found respect with his subject matter and rap abilities. It also brought attention from both underground and major labels and promoters and new fans. Its could be only a matter of time before he hits the rap scene on a national level. But his work isn't complete on the underground level as he prepares to drop his 6th album "Loyalty Is Everything" in 2009 to follow up "This Is My Life". The album featured many of Ca$hville's up & coming artist and once again proved to be another solid album from Kd Tha 1. Now after a 4 year hiatus Kd Tha 1 will make his long awaited return with the release of "This Is My Life: Chapter 2 which may be the most anticipated album he has ever released.
